Tropical Fun At Momstown Oakville's Art & Play Sponsored By Tropicana Tropics

momstown Oakville didn't get on a plane but it sure felt like we were in the Tropics this morning! The weather today was smokin' hot and it just happened to fit perfectly with our special Art & Play: Picassos in the Park sponsored by Tropicana Tropics. We had a great big group of Oakville moms and kids join us at Coronation park to make homemade leis, paint with fruit and cool down with some delicious Tropicana Tropics juice.

As always, the kids got right into the painting (many little ones left with green or blue hands)! Painting with tropical fruit (papaya, pineapple, limes and oranges) was a great sensory experience as well as a chance to do some exploration using different materials and seeing the results. Everyone also got a chance to make their own lei to get into the tropical spirit.

Getting Crafty!

It wasn't long before we all felt the need to be refreshed and broke into the juice! We had Tropicana Tropics Orange, Peach, Mango and Orange, Strawberry, Banana on hand to try. Tropics is made with 100% juice and puree blend and contains no added sugar and each 250 ml glass of Tropics juice blend provides you with two full servings of fruit. Not to mention it was extremely refreshing on this hot, hot day! I tried the Orange, Strawberry, Banana first and really liked it. I thought it would be my favourite of the two but then I tried the Orange, Peach, Mango flavour and was surprised by how much I liked that one too! momstown Oakville was happy to be able to give several moms a coupons for a container of Tropicana Tropics so that they could enjoy the juice at home.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in the Tropics this morning. After all the crafting and refuelling with Tropicana Tropics, the splash pad was the next stop for most kids before packing up and heading home. Alphabet Play - B is for bunny!

Yesterday we got together for our Alphabet Play program, this program is great for kids of all ages! Even new moms can bring their wee babes to hear the stories we read and the songs we sing. Focusing on the letter "B" we talked bunnies, balloons, birthdays and barnyard animals! After bee and bunny rhymes and everyone’s favourite Sleeping Bunnies song it was time to become official bunnies. Everyone made their own set of bunny ears.

We Share Everything!

Thanks to Scholastic Canada, momstown Oakville is able to give away a book every month!

This month was a great book called "We Share Everything" by Robert Munsch. This was a popular one in my house - and so many of our moms (and kids) were excited to hear that this was our book give away this month! This is one of our little members checking out her new book that she is bringing home to "share" with her family!

A hilarious book about sharing, that also teaches the kids a few lessons along the way.
This topic is always hot on our message board, and kids are constantly learning about sharing at momstown events: circle time, playgroups, arts and crafts. It seemed so perfectly fitting to "share" a book like this with our little ones.

Things were fluttering at Dazzle!

Our monthly momstown Oakville party at Dazzle was a huge success! Thanks to all the mamas and kids who were there, it was alot of fun. We had a few new Oakville mamas trying out a momstown event for the first time. We had a great turn out, and lots of activities to keep everyone busy. This was the perfect playgroup for a wide age range, as Dazzle has toys, games, and activities for all ages.

Momstown brought along 2 butterfly crafts to go along with the educational theme for the month. A coffee filter butterfly, and door hangers. All the kids were really excited to personalize their doorhangers with their names.

We pulled out the parachute, and the kids had a great time: loads of songs and rhymes.

Even our snack time was fluttering with cupcakes arranged in the shape of a butterfly, juice and yogurt.

We ended off our morning with a draw - prizes to spoil mama a little. There were 2 spa treatments, a couple of gift cards, and wine tasting! Enjoy moms.

Oakville Baby playgroup a saviour for moms!

Each Monday, moms with little ones, and I mean little ones, meet at our partner Sharkey's Cuts for Kids for playgroup on their plush carpet.

Yes, we realize that at age 3 months the babies aren't really "playing" but the two hours that moms are out of the house and with other moms who are the same stage in motherhood as you - well that exciting enough to be a giddy as 8 year old who just go let out for summer vacation!!
