Our Junior Chef program is hosted by Sherri from Circle Time Parties, and she follows along with our momstown education curriculum. Our theme for the month of April has been all about baby animals, so our moms and kids were super excited to learn that they would make their very own animal crackers this morning!
They worked as a team to create the dough, each child taking a turn to add an ingredient, and stir. Then each child was given some dough and they used cookie cutters to cut out bunnies, chicks, bears, and so many other adorable little animals.
While the creations were baking, Sherri led us in a circle time, of course all about baby animals! We sang songs about frogs and read books about animals too! Everyone agreed that tasting the little animals was yummy AND fun! Thank you Sherri from Circle Time Parties!

Alphabet Play - B is for bunny!
Yesterday we got together for our Alphabet Play program, this program is great for kids of all ages! Even new moms can bring their wee babes to hear the stories we read and the songs we sing. Focusing on the letter "B" we talked bunnies, balloons, birthdays and barnyard animals! After bee and bunny rhymes and everyone’s favourite Sleeping Bunnies song it was time to become official bunnies. Everyone made their own set of bunny ears.
Thank you to Sherri from Circle Time Parties for helping us learn all about the letter "B"!
Alphabet Play happens monthly at momstown Oakville, and is one of the top ten programs developed out of our program pillars which defines the curriculum we deliver on a monthly basis. We've got plenty to keep you busy whether your a new mom or a mom with toddlers or preschoolers - or all of those! Join us for a free trial to see why momstown is more than moms just getting together.
Our little Easter bunnies are now ready for our Easter Egg Hunt! "C" you next time!

music and movement with Suzy Sunshine!
Kids LOVE music!

And this momstown Oakville event with Suzy Sunshine is a popular one for kids of all ages.Hosted by Canlan Ice Sports, we had infants right up to pre-schoolers, and everyone was having fun!
Our kids get a chance to learn some rhythm, rhymes and a few new songs. We sing familiar ones too! Suzy Sunshine is so great at getting all the kids interacting, communicating, and joining in the fun.
We broke out the shakers and the scarves.
We even had story time (in song format!).

Hope to see another great group of moms out at our next event with Suzy Sunshine.

If you'd like to join momstown for our next great event, please register for a FREE 4 week trial. Suzy Sunshine also teaches music classes in her own studio. For information about her classes, please visit her website.

Junior Chef: marshmallow snowmen and graham cracker houses
It was snowman and graham cracker fun this morning!
Before getting messy the kids colored snowmen which they later attached to shakers for a snowman pokey.
Then it was time for creating their masterpieces. With lots of treats and icing little houses and snowman came to life. The children also got to decorate their own bear cookies. The kids LOVED creating their houses, and decorating exactly the way they wanted. The creativity was so much fun to watch!
Using tambourines and shakers, Sherri from Circle Time Parties and the children danced and sang many of their favorite winter songs like Jingle Bells and Frosty the snowman. The children’s favorite part was singing a song that helped dress up Benjamin bear in his winter clothes. The day was complete with the classic 12 days of Christmas story.

Back to school... a great time to try momstown!

What does the Staples commercial say... "it's the most wonderful time of the year..." well, sort of. As much as we all hate to say goodbye to this wonderful summer we've had, it's also time to get back into routines, activities, and a new school year.
Whether your child is just starting preschool or into a new grade, this is a busy time of year for us moms! Many of us may be thinking about how to fill the days once park playdates and swimming pools come to an end.

If you're thinking of enrolling in activities, why not consider a momstown membership? For just $45 a year, you have access to plenty of weekly playgroups, organized monthly events such as Crafty Kids or Kids Book Club, and other fun kid-friendly outings. It's a wonderful investment in a huge array of activities and you can sign up for as much or as little as you wish!
For the working moms, don't forget that we've got evening activities for moms, as well as great discounts on both kid and mom stuff that we all buy - such as Mabel's Labels, Melonhead haircuts, and Beautiful Mama spa treatments. Check out the discount tab for a full list.

Interested? Click here to register and get a 2-week free trial.

Under the Sea fishies!
On Tuesday our momstown Crafty Kids playgroup pretended we were underwater fish with our Under the Sea theme. Funky fishbowls were made with handprint fish and dried bean "rocks" (yep, we made sure no little people ate those beans!).
Our sensory craft was really well received and all the kids tried it, even the young toddlers! Shaving cream was used as "glue" to decorate our fish with pompoms and sparkly decorations. This pair of 12 month twins had a great new experience poking their little fingers into the shaving cream and testing it out!
Check out momstown Hamilton and their Under the Sea playgroup! Want to try some Under the Sea Crafts? Try this Clay Sea Star sensory craft - perfect for toddlers - and others on the momstown arts and crafts blog.

momstown Christmas Party at Dazzle!
The grandparents will be fighting over these Christmas tree trivets, designed by our littlest members :).

This year, momstown Oakville held our Christmas Party at our partner Dazzle Art. We started with some crafts, some playtime, Christmas treats of course, and no party would be complete without a visit from the North Pole! Santa did his part in bringing lots of smiles to this gathering (and only one set of tears but one member who wasn't so sure about the big bearded man:).
Thanks to all that came. Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas!

Apple Craft Playgroup
Apples Apples Apples! September is here! momstown Oakville had barrels of fun at the Little Gym party room during our Crafty Kids playgroup last week. We had crafts for varying ages and toys for our youngest members :) Panic ensued when I brought out the paint and apples for "apple stamping", but nothing a little wet wipe or maybe seven couldn't fix!
Next month join us for our Turkey themed Crafty Kids playgroup for more fun and more craft-time!
