What a week!

It's been a busy and incredibly fun week for our momstown Oakville members. Not sure if it's the promise of spring weather (although we didn't really have a winter, did we?) but we've been out in full force!  Here's a look at some of the things we had going on.

MONDAY - We started the week with our monthly Art & Play program. This event is great for all ages and is often one of the first events new members attend. Kids can either climb and play on the toys and equipment at Dazzle or participate in our themed craft - or most actually do both!

After the kids were in bed, our mamas got together for our monthly book club. The book this time was The Birth House. Next month we'll be talking about The Secret Daughter.

TUESDAY - A Rubber Duckie swim and a playgroup were on tap for Tuesday morning. Our new members were welcomed with a Mama Meet and Greet event in the evening. We had great conversation over delicious treats! Conversation ranged from basic "get to know you" chit chat to stories about celebrity sightings, child care options and recommendations, the importance of girls nights out and much more! Welcome to our new members that came out!

WEDNESDAY - We had a fabulous guest speaker at our Baby Basics weekly group. Read more about what we learned with regards to finding quality child care in Oakville here.

THURSDAY - The weather mostly co-operated for our Sip n' Stroll event and we had lots of mama's out for a coffee and some exercise. As we move into spring, we'll have to add a reminder to put on the sunscreen!

FRIDAY - Discovery Field Trip! We headed to Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington for the Chocolate Exhibit. While my son was interested in how chocolate was made, he was also quite taken with the koi fish that he could get up close and personal with!

The little ones LOVED this larger than life box of chocolates. Okay...maybe the mom's were pretty impressed with it too! It was very hard to not eat chocolate after our visit today, so I decided I'd better stick with the theme and indulge.

Wondering what's coming up next week?  Check our calendar, we got lots of things lined up including The Baby Steps Fair (we are a proud sponsor!) which is taking place on Sunday, March 11th.  Our members get a $2 discount on admission.

There is no better time to join momstown Oakville! We've got a jam packed month ahead and we're offering a FREE 4 week trial. What are you waiting for? See you around the neighbourhood!

Last Picasso of the Season

Well, it's with a sad face that I post these pics as momstown Oakville's last official Picasso in the Park of 2011. Now, summer isn't over yet, and we still have loads of outdoor fun planned, but this was the last Picasso. We had a great group of moms out this morning, and a few new faces who had so much fun during our Picasso table at the momstown birthday bash, they came back for more!

My enthusiastic daughter jumped in with both hands this morning!

It was a perfect overcast day to be out - not too sunny, no wind, just perfect.

These girls have been regulars at Picasso all summer, and I just love watching all the art they create!

When he got tired of painting paper, he collected rocks to paint! They make a great paper weight for your office too!

Just wanted to thank ALL the moms and kids who came out to our many Picasso in the Park events this summer - i had a blast with all of you! We still have splash pad dates, park playdates, and a pool party coming up. You won't want to miss the fun for the last few weeks of summer!

Our fall schedule is starting to come together, and is being posted and updated every day! To check out what we have in store, email Sarah, and register for a free 4 week trial membership.

Antz in your Pantz Playdate Field Trip

Today's playdate at Antz in Your Pantz was a blast. There was a lot of running around (and crawling by the younger set), and controlled mayhem. The space has something for children of all ages, snack bar stocked with healthy choices and it's small enough that you can usually see your little person (or people, unless they are zipping down one of the tunnel slides:).

Our little momstown Oakville munchkins made fast friends and a couple of us moms even managed to finish our sentences! We had a party room reserved for momstown and a potluck snack table which kept everyone happy (kids and moms!). We'll do this one again next month, stay tuned to the calendar for more details..."

Bowling for Fun!

The kids had a blast at the Backlot Bowling Alley in the new SilverCity entertainment complex at Burloak and QEW. The new facility has it all, bumpers on the gutters to keep the ball on track and even a stand the kids can roll the ball off to get it going in the right general direction :), the price was right too, with five kids sharing a lane, it came to only $5.00 per child for bowling!

momstown Oakville also experienced first rate customer service and comfy laneside seating. One tip for next time, eat and drink before you come, I forgot how expensive movie snacks are! Our next bowling event is booked for February 15, so if you are already a momstown.ca member sign up and come on out for some weekend fun and if you're not a momstown member yet, check us out on the web at momstown.ca.
